Champions League football is back with the draw for the group stage.

As with much of the European football calendar this season, everything is set to be a little different this year due to the World Cup in November.

All six matchdays will be completed by November 2, around five weeks earlier than usual, with game between played in three back-to-back week chunks which could throw up some interesting results.

As ever, total of 32 teams compete in the Champions League group stage, 26 from the final standings in the domestic league and six from the play-off round.

How to watch Champions League draw in UK

TV channel: The draw will be broadcast live on BT Sport 1, with coverage starting at 4.45pm.

Live stream: The Uefa website and BT Sport website will stream the draw online, while Standard Sport will bring you all the drama on our LIVE blog

When is it?

The draw will take place on Thursday, 25 August at 5pm BST in Istanbul, Turkey.

What TV channel will it be on?

Fans will be able to watch the event on BT Sport who have the rights to European football this season and an online stream will be available through the broadcaster’s YouTube channel.

What are the pots?

What rules are there for the draw?

There will be four seeding pots, with the first one consisting of the six highest-ranked league champions and the winners of UCL and EL. Pots 2 to 4 will be determined via the club coefficient rankings.

When forming the groups, no team can play another from its own association in the group stage, meaning two teams from England, for example, cannot be in the same group.

When will the fixtures be?

There will be six match days in order for all the group matches to be played out. They will take place on 6/7 September, 13/14 September, 4/5 October, 11/12 October, 25/26 October and 1/2 November.

The round of 16 is due to take place over two legs on 14/15/21/22 February and 7/8/14/15 March 2023. The quarter-finals are in the diary on 11/12 and 18/19 April 2023 with the semi-final on 9/10 and 16/17 May 2023 and the final on 10 June 2023.
