Reasons Why Chelsea ‘May Struggle To Finish In EPL Top 4 Spot Next Season’ Despite New Ownership

Todd Boehly is now the new owner of Chelsea after the £4.2bn deal to buy the club from Russian Roman Abramovich. This is a new beginning for the West London side. However the club has lost Rudiger and Christensen on a free transfer this summer as the duo saw the expiry of their contract this June.
Tuchel looks to replace them with some high profile players like Kounde from Sevilla. And Koulibaly from Napoli as per Sunsport report and this may be expensive for the club. We look into why Chelsea may struggle next season and hence possibly miss out on Premier League top four finish.
Firstly, most players are having uncertainty over their future at the club, leave alone the departure of the aforementioned two. Lukaku has been linked with a return to Inter Milan, so is Cesar in exit rumours, having his contract coming to expiry this June.
But the club has an option to extend the captain contract by 12 months and Alonso is interested in joining Cesar in the exit with Barcelona. Reported to be interested in the two players as per Sunsport. Secondly, the new ownership has to spend big to get high profile players.
With many European clubs looking to put their players on high price tag knowing Todd Boehly is able to pay for high fee. Hence Chelsea may miss out on Tuchel’s targets if the owner decide in not buying the targeted players. Players in this situation may be not sure of the kind of system under the manager and hence decide against joining Chelsea.
With the club yet to bring in any new player while a Manchester City side has made a big statement signing in Erling Haaland as Liverpool side. Has signed Darwin Nunez both from Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund and Benfica in Portugal respectively.
And Tottenham in this summer have signed Yves Bissouma and Ivan Perisic from Brighton and Inter Milan. This are the serious competitors for Chelsea in the next season. And as Tuchel with the slow pace in signing players. He may miss out on top quality players and hence struggle next season to make it to top four positions.
