Next stop Stamford Bridge? Chelsea want to sign one of the “world’s best strikers”

Chelsea have been backed to complete the summer signing of Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski
Lewandowski hit the headlines just a few weeks ago after he emerged and announced that his time with Bayern is done – he wants a fresh challenge and wants to leave the German side this transfer window
Bayern have no intention of letting him go without a fight – as they do not have an adequate replacement for the 50 -goals that he scored last season – but still the speculation increases about where he will go
Barcelona are the clear favourites to sign the great man – but Chelsea are also linked with a possible move as Thomas Tuchel is desperate to add to his attack this summer and replace Romelu Lukaku – who looked awful at times last season
Now – amid all the speculation Pundit Noel Whelan has opened up and claimed that Chelsea will look to sign one of the games best strikers in order to send a message to their Premier Legaue rivals
“I think Chelsea will be looking at what other teams have done with Nunez and Haaland,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“They’ll be wanting to have one of the world’s best strikers themselves.
“You can never take away what Lewandowski has done in his career. Look at Cristiano Ronaldo as well, they are pretty similar.
“They keep going, stay fit. Lewandowski is a player who will score goals if he gets the right service – there’s no doubt about it.
“But you would be paying a lot of money for a 33-year-old who would maybe only be around for two seasons.
“He’s got to hit the ground running to make it worthwhile.”
Lewandowski may only be a short-term Answer for Tuchel – but he is a player that would net 30-goals a season for the club – and that would help them achieve more titles
It will be a big summer for the club – and it will be interesting to see if an official move is made for Lewandowski
