Just IN; Chelsea are Willing To Pay’ Up To £43M For Portuguese International Who Is Liked By Pochettino

According to recent reports, Chelsea is showing a keen interest in a Portuguese international player who is highly regarded by their manager, Mauricio Pochettino. The club is reportedly willing to pay a fee of up to £43 million to secure the services of this player. This potential signing indicates Chelsea’s ambition to strengthen their squad further and compete at the highest level in the upcoming season.

According to Fichajes.net, Chelsea is reportedly ready to offer up to €50 million (£43 million) to secure the services of Sporting Lisbon’s talented centre-back, Goncalo Inacio. Blues manager, Mauricio Pochettino, is said to be fond of the Portuguese international and has urged the recruitment team to make an effort in acquiring him.

Inacio’s left-footed playing style would provide a valuable addition to Chelsea’s defensive options, and he wouldn’t directly compete with the impending arrival of Axel Disasi, who is set to join the club from Monaco for £39 million.

However, given Chelsea’s recent signings in the defensive department, some may find it surprising that the club is considering another defender this summer.

Moreover, the competition for Inacio’s signature is fierce, with reports suggesting interest from other Premier League clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle, as well as from Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga champions.

Furthermore, Inacio’s contract apparently includes a release clause, potentially as high as €60 million (£51 million), raising questions about Sporting Lisbon’s willingness to sell him for a price below that amount. The negotiations for the player’s transfer could prove challenging and intriguing in the coming days.

The potential interest from Chelsea in Goncalo Inacio might be reconsidered due to the imminent contract extension of Levi Colwill. Colwill, an England Under-21 international, is also a left-footed centre-back, and with the likelihood of playing a four-at-the-back formation under manager Mauricio Pochettino, there may not be much room for both him and Inacio in the same team.

Considering that Benoit Badiashile, another left-sided centre-back, is also part of the squad, the competition for positions in that position becomes even more intense. As a result, Chelsea might have reevaluated their pursuit of Inacio’s signature, especially now that Colwill’s future at the club seems more secure with the impending contract extension.

At some point in recent months, Chelsea may have had genuine interest in the Portuguese defender, but the changing circumstances regarding Colwill’s contract situation might have led the club to reconsider their pursuit of Inacio, potentially deciding that they don’t need to pursue his signing anymore.
