Injury Hit CHELSEA : 10 senior Chelsea players who are currently out injured

Chelsea’s injury woes worsened on Thursday night as they suffered a triple attacking blow in their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. Riyad Mahrez scored in the 63rd minute to dent Chelsea’s hopes of a top four finish. While the Blues are currently 10 points adrift of fourth place Manchester United, it is disheartening that injury is taking its toll on Graham Potter who now has 10 senior players on the treatment table;

1- Raheem Sterling (Leg Injury)

Sterling was injured against Manchester City, subbed off in just the 5th minute after suffering an apparent leg injury in the opening moments.

2- Christian Pulisic (Knee Injury)

Pulisic’s injury occurred in the 16th minute, during a bright attacking moment for Chelsea. Marc Cucurella won the ball back high up the field and found Kai Havertz with a pass to the top of the penalty area. Havertz slipped the ball past a defender and into Pulisic’s path roughly nine yards from goal. Pulisic tried to shoot first-time, but John Stones came sliding in from Pulisic’s right to block the shot before making contact with his knee on the follow-through.

3- Reece James (Knee Injury)

Reece James suffered another injury blow during his comeback appearance against Bournemouth last week, he is expected to be out for up to a month.

4- N’golo Kante (Hamstring Injury)

Kante is expected to be out of action for four months after undergoing an operation on a hamstring injury in October.

5- Mason Mount (Knock)

The Englishman picked up a knock ahead of the Premier League tie against Pep Guardiola’s side on Thursday evening and, therefore, missed the fixture.

6- Edouard Mendy (Shoulder Injury)

The Senegalese shot-stopper missed the Bournemouth match and didn’t even make the bench against Forest. He had previously come back from international duty in October with an injury but played for his club since then despite being replaced as No1 by Kepa Arrizabalaga.

7- Wesley Fofana (Knee Injury)

Having missed most of the season so far, former Leicester man Welsey Fofana’s influence at the back has been somewhat felt in his absence. Kalidou Koulibaly and Thiago Silva have performed well, but the Frenchman will be keen to return to action soon.

8- Ben Chilwell (Thigh Injury)

The left back has missed large parts of the Blues season, and will be keen to get back fit and help Chelsea’s chances of claiming a place in the top four this season.

9- Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Calf Injury)

Having been deployed in a number of different positions so far this season, Potter has missed the versatility that Loftus-Cheek no doubt suitably brings to this Chelsea side.

10- Armando Broja (Knee Injury)

Having pulled up nastily in the side’s mid-season friendly against Aston Villa, Armando Broja could be heard reeling in pain as his knee injury more than definitely curtailed his 22/23 season. Having made quite the impression under Potter, it was a sad blow for the former Southampton loanee.
