DONE DEAL: David Datro Fofana Under goes Chelsea Medical

David Datro Fofana is on the verge of joining Chelsea as he travels to London to undergo medical tests on Thursday, according to reports.

Chelsea have won the race to sign the 19-year-old forward from Molde after they agreed a fee earlier this month for the teenager amid interest from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Fofana has now agreed personal terms with Chelsea, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, and will now travel to London to undergo medical tests.

They will take place on Thursday, on his birthday, ahead of a transfer which is set to cost the Blues around €12 million for his signature.

It remains unclear if Fofana will be sent out on loan once he arrives at Stamford Bridge, or whether he will stay at the club and potentially in Graham Potter’s first-team squad.

Chelsea are pursuing young talent for the future as part of their ‘Vision 2030’ and following the season-ending ACL injury to Armando Broja, a swoop for Fofana was quickly wrapped up.

Fofana could become their first signing in the January transfer window, with the Blues also pursuing Brazilian wonderkid Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama.

Fofana has also previously expressed his admiration for the Premier League and Chelsea.

“My favourite league is the English one,” he said. “I want to go to the Premier League. If I get there, I’ll never leave. I have to end up there.

“If Molde can send me directly to England, that’s fine with me. I can adapt to anything. I will succeed there. Then it’s over.”

The forward has got his wish of a switch to England and his affection for Chelsea, following in the footsteps of fellow Ivorian Didier Drogba, is clear to see.

He added “I don’t know why, but I want to play for Chelsea. It’s a very good team. It’s in my heart.”

Chelsea now look set to have got their man. Once he completes his medical, it will be down to completing the formalities before his switch can be made official
