There have now been leaks for all three kits for the upcoming 2022/23 campaign
As well as nailing down transfer targets for the upcoming summer transfer window which is set to open its doors for business on June 10, new owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital are already busy at work sorting out different areas of the club ahead of 2022/23.
With the priority this summer on backing men’s and women’s first team managers Thomas Tuchel and Emma Hayes, other things on their to-do list which rank a little further down their lists include the likes of re-opening all money avenues that were frozen under the special license that the club were functioning on for the last few months.
This includes re-opening the megastore to allow sales to get back underway as the Blues look to make up lost time on all the lost money they could not rake in due to Roman Abramovich’s sanctions which were inflicted upon the west Londoners by the UK Government due to the Russian oligarch’s supposed links to Vladimir Putin of which he vehemently denies.
However, after two agonising months for supporters, a new dawn is finally on the horizon as Boehly and his group had his £4.25billion purchase of the Blues confirmed earlier this week as he looks to get Chelsea challenging right at the top once again domestically in a similar fashion to his beloved LA Dodgers side in the MLB.
“Our vision as owners is clear: we want to make the fans proud. Along with our commitment to developing the youth squad and acquiring the best talent, our plan of action is to invest in the Club for the long term and build on Chelsea’s remarkable history of success,” he outlined in his club statement.
“I personally want to thank ministers and officials in the British government, and the Premier League, for all their work in making this happen.”
In order to continue the 19 years plus of success that the side from SW6 have accumulated in the 21st century, the American will want to maximise monetary opportunities in the process, so it’s no surprise that a third kit has been leaked to complete the hat-trick of jerseys for the 2022/23 campaign.
Already, the simpler home kit and the aqua blue and white striped away kit have been heavily tipped to be the first two kits that will be officially unveiled at some point in the near future but the third strip, which is likely to be seen in the Champions League, has caused mostly positivity on social media.
According to FootyHeadlines.com, the third kit’s base colour has been described as ‘sesame gold’ with black and orange sleeves to accompany it.
Interestingly enough though, the leaked images contain the FIFA Club World Cup badge which has caused some confusion amongst the support base on Twitter. Here are some of the reactions to the overall prospect of seeing the current World Champions wear a gold strip for the first time in living memory.
@Chriswrightzz commented: ‘The best out the three rumoured kits imo.’
@cfc_naldo questioned: ‘CWC badge? Isn’t that getting binned next season?’
@_ShuBhamCFC demanded: ‘Need the shorts to be black.’
@Dherykmills pointed out: ‘What is 3 UK still doing on that jersey?’
@cfcmoussa weighed in: ‘Ngl that’s a nice kit, instant cop’
However, not everyone is a fan as @Retroplanets put: ‘That looks awful ngl.’
@_CFCBen_ added: ‘Looks like a goalkeeper kit.’
