Chelsea News: The Blues are in deep trouble after becoming one of Roman Abramovich’s “frozen assets” in the UK. Owing to this, Chelsea could lose out on multiple sponsors including their £900m shirt deal with Nike.

The UK government on Thursday decided to declare all of Roman Abramovich’s assets frozen within the UK. The Chelsea owner was one of the eight Russian businessmen to receive this treatment.

Roman Abramovich was looking to sell the club after suffering backlash due to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. But he won’t be able to sell the club for now as it has been frozen by the government.

The repercussions of this could hurt Chelsea football club deeply. With most activities banned, there is a chance that the club could enter administration in May if the situation does not improve.

As per the Daily Mail, The Blues could be hit financially owing to the UK government’s decision. Chelsea could face their biggest loss from Nike as the American sports brand is considering terminating their deal.

Nike reportedly signed a deal worth £900 million over 15-years in 2016. But the American sports brand is now considering walking away from the club due to the recent development. Hence, this could cause the Blues a loss of around £540 million.

Shirt Sponsors “Three” have reportedly paused their £40 million relationship with the Blues. To add to this, other sponsors including Pari Match, Hyundai, and Zapp are also considering pausing/ending their relationship.

Owing to the ongoing chaos, The Chelsea Football Club has reportedly held talks with the UK government. The talks are said to have been held on Thursday night and are said to continue in the upcoming days.

What has happened till now?

As per the UK government, Chelsea won’t be able to sell tickets, merchandise, or complete any other business transactions for now. The Blues can’t even extend the contracts of their players or sign new players to their squad.

Owing to this, the Blues have already lost a couple of youth players as per reports. Chelsea was about to add these youth players to their ranks but the ban meant that other Premier League clubs now circled the players.
