Chelsea meet Neymar agent – De Ligt hands in transfer request – Sam McClelland completes transfer move in Chelsea news of the day…
Thomas Tuchel’s dream Chelsea signing Matthijs De Ligt has reportedly told Juventus that he wants to leave this summer
Despite the fact that Chelsea have some world class defenders in the back-line – the Blues had had a very hard time of it keeping clean-sheets over the last few weeks of the season and Thomas Tuchel wants to sign some fresh faces
Add that to the fact that a number of players are already gone – with a few more expected to leave the club should the right offer come in – and Tuchel will need to sign some top-class players over the next few months
And that has again led to many reports in the media which has suggested that Chelsea are lining up a move for De Ligt after learning that he is having trouble agreeing a new contract with Juventus
Now reports on the Metro have revealed that the powerhouse defender has handed in a transfer request in order to force through a potential move to Stamford Bridge
The lack of success Juventus have enjoyed since his arrival has apparently caused De Ligt to want to leave.
The report adds that a row broke out between club bosses and De Ligt’s representative Rafaela Pimenta in a meeting to discuss the player’s future which took place in Milan earlier this week, and now Chelsea could look to capitalise on the discontent.
Amid all that Speculation – Journalist Dean Jones has come out and claimed that De Ligt is the dream signing for Tuchel this summer – but he could ultimately cost too much money
He told GiveMeSport: “I definitely think it’s feasible (Chelsea signing another centre-back after Kounde). De Ligt has always been the dream signing, but it’s very difficult to do; it would cost so much money.
“He’s also earning massive money at Juve, and I don’t think they are especially keen to lose him. I think if someone was to offer stupid money, then they might consider it.”
De Ligt would be perfect for the club and a world class addition to the side – and Ted Boehly should know that money talks and if he offers the right amount of money – he can get any player he likes
So if the reports are true and he has handed in a transfer request – Chelsea better move quickly to get a deal done
Neymar agents met –
It has again been claimed in the media that Chelsea have met the agents of Neymar – after he was told he could leave PSG
The transfer window has been open for a few weeks now – and already we have seen the biggest clubs start making moves to get players signed up to new deals – and new stars signed.
PSG have already done the biggest deal of the transfer window by offering Kylian Mbappe a staggering £1 million-a-week contract and a £100 million signing on fee to keep him at the club.
And that deal means that the French giants may need to make a bit of money on order to stick to the financial fair play rules – and one of the clubs biggest stars will now be on the market
The Sun have claimed that PSG will be open to offers that match their valuation of Neymar – believed to be around the £100M mark – and Chelsea have been one of the first clubs to make contact with the Brazilians agent about a possible deal
Thomas Tuchel is a man that is looking to add goals to that attack and considering Neymar is one of the best players in world football and a player that he worked with during his time with PSG – a move to the Premier League could happen
There are individuals within the club that feel the 30-year-old has been in gradual decline ever since his initial arrival in Paris and, as well as his consistent struggles with injury, his attitude has also been questioned.
Is Neymar a goal-machine? Yes he is.. he is one of the best players in the world? Yes he is – can he use his tricks and skills to get past players? Yes he can
Can we see him coming to the Premier League and being a success?? No we cannot as he is at the stage of his career that he does no longer care about being the best player in the world
But it will be interesting to see where he ends up – and if Chelsea can get him to come to England or he heads to Spanish football
Defender completes move –
English League Two side Barrow have announced the loan signing of Northern Ireland defender Sam McClelland from Chelsea – it has been revealed
McClelland was in Ian Baraclough’s senior squad for the games against Malta and Ukraine, making his debut against the Ukrainians in 2021.
He joined Chelsea back in 2108 and quickly signed his first big contract with the Blues later that year after he impressed the Blues coaching staff with some of his impressive performances
This is McClelland’s first loan, and it comes soon after Chelsea had activated a one-year extension clause in his contract, which had been due to expire at the end of the month.
Chelsea announced on the club website: ‘Sam McClelland will play at Barrow this coming season, the first loan move of his Chelsea career.’
Barrow boss Pete Wild said on the new addition “Sam comes highly recommended from both club and country and is at the right stage of his career to experience men’s football.
” We are excited to have him as part of the group and help continue his development as a footballer.”
The lad is clearly very talented and needs a chance to break into a first team to prove that he can make it as a professional footballer – this is a great move for the lad
It will give him a chance in the game – and should he impress – he may get a chance at Chelsea – he may get offers from other clubs or Barrow may indeed decide to keep him on a more permanent basis
Chelsea will watch his performances very closely – and as we said – this is a massive opportunity for the lad that he shouldnt waste
