Chelsea in Friday transfer meeting, signing midfielder on agenda – ‘Certify’ interest, ‘top offer’ needed

That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who explain how director Igli Tare flew to the capital this week to discuss both incomings and outgoings.

They report that the Lazio chief arrived on Tuesday and ended yesterday with Chelsea, the club he was mostly focused upon.

That’s because manager Maurizio Sarri has his eye on several Chelsea players, with the likes of Kepa, Emerson Palmieri and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all possible options for him.

Tare’s meeting, then, allowed Chelsea to ‘certify’ their interest, although, at this point, they have not gone into detail but instead undergone a ‘delving into information’.

Their focus at the minute is on Romelu Lukaku’s departure, but once he leaves, their focus will be on incomings, and Sergej Milinković-Savić could be one of them.

At the moment, the player’s agent, former Chelsea striker Majeta Kezman, is simply dealing with the interest, with Arsenal and Newcastle also keen. The player does not want either of those clubs, though.

He wants bigger, but so far, nobody has been willing to offer more than €60m, with proposals likely to be at €55-60m. Then Lazio will need to make a decision.

They don’t need to sell, but the midfielder’s contract ends in 202,4 so now is the prime time for them, particularly as it’s stated he isn’t considering a renewal
