Chelsea have not lost a Premier League home match in March for 21 YEARS – but who were the last side to beat them?

CHELSEA beat Newcastle 1-0 on Sunday to extend their unbeaten home Premier League run in March to 35 games.
The victory means they have now gone 21 years without losing a home Prem match in March.
It is a sensational run which stretches back to before the arrival of owner Roman Abramovich.
And the Blues have kept that run going this month despite the turmoil surrounding the Russian’s attempts to sell the club.
Chelsea do not have another home Prem match in March, so the run will be extended until at least 2023.
The last side to get the better of the Blues in a league match in March at Stamford Bridge was Sunderland way back in 2001.
Don Hutchinson levelled 13 minutes later as the Black Cats came back into the match.
Eidur Gudjohnsen then restored the hosts’ lead seven minutes before half-time.
But Sunderland refused to go away and shortly after the break they equalised for the second time in the match as Hutchinson helped himself to a brace.
In the 61st minute Peter Reid’s side completed the turnaround as Gavin McCann gave them the lead.
And Kevin Phillips then wrapped the game up 11 minutes from time as Sunderland enjoyed a superb win at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea would go on to finish the season in sixth place, four points ahead of Sunderland in seventh.
