Chelsea given green light to complete deal as £50m star rejects latest offer

Chelsea transfer target Raphinha has turned down a new contract offer from Leeds United, demanding a smaller release clause as he hopes to leave the club for a bigger move in the coming windows
The Brazil international is likely to be one of the most in-demand players in world football this coming summer – when he will only have two years left on his contract – and is wanted by a host of clubs.
Chelsea are massive fans of the player and there was even some talk in the media that the Blues were eyeing up a deal during the January window, but eventually opted against making a move, and although they cannot make a move now, they plan too when a new owner arrives
And there has been some reports in the media that Chelsea were ready to battle Man United and Barcelona in the summer to try and win the race to complete a deal for Raphinha, and now it seems that they have been left on full alert about a potential transfer deal.
According to UOL, Raphinha has turned down the deal due to wanting the price of his release clause in his contract to be reduced. It currently stands at around £70m, but the Brazilian wants it to be reduced so interested parties aren’t priced out of a possible deal
Reports claim that Leeds are willing to double his wages, but aren’t willing to negotiate a decreased release clause.
