Chelsea and N’Golo Kante finding common ground in contract stand-off

Chelsea and N’Golo Kante have been in a stand off over his contract for some time now, but it seems like we’re gradually reaching a conclusion.
Over time each side has figured out what the other wants, and now it’s just a matter of both sides finding common ground.
The Evening Standard‘s Nizaar Kinsella lays out the situation well in his piece today. Kante wants to stay at Chelsea and Chelsea are happy to keep him, but he’s one of the best paid players at the club and has featured very little in the last 18 months because of injury.
If the two parties can agree a wage appropriate for the amount he will actually end up playing, everyone will be happy. But if Chelsea play hard ball, teams like Barcelona are clearly interested, and despite Kante’s desire to stay, he will have a price in mind that the Blues will have to meet.
