Chelsea vs Everton

Chelsea are looking to build on their recent resurgence by securing a fourth consecutive victory across all competitions when they welcome Everton to Stamford Bridge for their Premier League clash on Saturday evening.

In their previous outing, the Blues secured a 3-1 victory against Leicester City. Meanwhile, Everton, also known as “the Toffees”, triumphed over Brentford with a 1-0 scoreline, under the guidance of their manager, Sean Dyche.

Graham Potter has managed to turn things around for the West London giants with his new three-at-the-back setup, surviving calls from supporters to be sacked. In their previous match against struggling Leicester, the team secured a remarkable victory, indicating their steady improvement under Potter’s guidance.

The fans’ jeers were met with a stunning goal from Ben Chilwell, who fired home a sumptuous volley at the near post. Despite a Patson Daka strike bringing the Foxes level, Chelsea managed to secure the win with a cheeky Kai Havertz lob and a Mateo Kovacic scissor-kick volley.

Although the team has now secured two consecutive top-flight victories, they still sit in 10th place in the standings, 11 points away from a Champions League berth. Nevertheless, the team’s recent win against Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 means that they still have a good chance of qualifying for the 2022-23 edition of Europe’s premier tournament.

As they await news of their quarter-final opponents, with the draw scheduled for Friday morning, Chelsea aims to achieve a three-game winning streak in the Premier League for the first time since Potter’s early days as coach in September and October. In their last 360 minutes of league football at Stamford Bridge, the Blues have only conceded one goal.

On Saturday evening, Potter has the responsibility of maintaining Chelsea’s 29-year unbeaten home record against Everton, which is the longest in the club’s history. The Toffees have not won in their last 27 Premier League games at Stamford Bridge and are at risk of falling deeper into relegation trouble if they make it 28 here.
